#038 Your career is important.
Here's a shoutout to all healthcare workers: your job is so very important. Whether you're a nurse or a first responder or a volunteer or even a hospital receptionist, your job is important. It's what you chose as your career which makes it important to you too, not just the people you help. Never let anyone tell you otherwise that you should change your career path for whatever reason. Maybe they wish you'd make more money ("Why a nurse and not a doctor?") or they think you could do better ("An EMT? You're so much smarter than driving a car."). Take the suggestion, think about it, and come back with an answer. It definitely does not have to agree with them. All that matters is that you enjoy the work you're doing. If they can't handle your career choice, then maybe you should show them the door.
